Expert workshops already delivered
These were devised to respond to critical areas of concern for our South East member colleagues with senior leadership responsibility.
#1 Your role as Corporate Parents in delivering excellence for Care Leavers, presented by Mark Riddell MBE. Here are links to his presentation, a BBC feature on a care leaver and a letter from MHCLG on Council Tax and Care Leavers.
#2 Child Poverty – understanding the role of Councillors in tacking child poverty and was led by Lisa Faulkner Bunyan (Child and Family Poverty/ Children’s Services expert). The slides for this event are available by clicking on the link.
#3 Understanding adolescents and the challenges and risks faced supporting and safeguarding complex young people with Dez Holmes of Research in Practice. The presentation is here.

#8 – Sufficiency – fostering, residential and unregulated placements will be hosted by Deborah Glassbrook with presentations from Senior Officers from Reading and Surrey. #9 – SEND – Getting it right for children and young people with SEND, and their families. The first presentation from Deborah Glassbrook some of the key changes in relation to SEND & the new inspection framework. The second presentation is from Andre Imich from the DfE.
#10 – Safeguarding Adolescents into adulthood, attending to harm in and outside the home. This workshop was facilitated by Dez Holmes, Director at Research in Practice. The presentation slides are here
