Family Hub welcome

Hello and welcome to the SESLIP Family Hub page. This page will provide regular updates regarding the development of the Family Hub initiative, both nationally, and also specifically to the South East region.

Carly Bain

Regional Co-ordinator for Family Hubs

Hello, I'm Carly Bain and I'm the Regional Co-ordinator for Family Hubs.  I'm in post until December 2022, funded by the Department for Education. I am employed by the Isle of Wight Council but on secondment for this role, to Hampshire County Council. I have reached out to all South East LAs and am pleased to be working with the majority of them already. My role is to support LAs to either implement or enhance their Family Hub offer.

Julie Greer

Regional Co-ordinator for the  National Centre for Family Hubs

Hello, my name is Julie Greer and I am the Regional Co-ordinator for the National Centre for Family Hubs. I am also working in the South East to support the development of the Family Hubs to meet local need, keeping families at the heart of the transformation process. I am also the Policy and Practice Advisor for SEND and I would be very happy to support you in thinking about how to meet the needs of children and young people within your Family Hubs.

We have made contact with every South East LA to date but if you would like to speak to us about your ideas around Family Hubs, please do email us. Our contact details can be found at the bottom of this page. We work closely together and are passionate about supporting Family Hub development in the South East, so please do get in touch.

Family Hub Community of Practice

A community of practice can work in a variety of ways, but an effective CoP will always engage participants in developing their own thinking alongside those with a shared interest.

We want to encourage those working on their Family Hub development in the South East to build knowledge, share best practice, explore the evidence base behind established programmes to support families, and promote innovative ideas that could start to make a difference.

There are a number of ways in which we aim to develop the Family Hub CoP across the South East, which are through;

Newsletters

Regional Family Hub newsletters are sent out every 2-3 weeks and provide updates regarding the Family Hubs toolkit and resources, training opportunities, blogs written by South East LAs and information regarding regional work and developments. They are written by both myself and Julie, with invaluable input from the LAs themselves. Any feedback and suggestions for content are carefully considered and included in future newsletters where possible. If you would like to be included in the distribution list or have something that you would like to share with the region, please do let me know.

SESLIP Early Help meetings

Julie and I also attend these meetings to share updates on both the national and regional Family Hub development and offer our support to the LAs.

South East Family Hub leads

The majority of LAs in the region have provided us with a lead for their Family Hub work, which can be found using the South East Family Hub lead contacts link.

Workshops

These are the remaining workshops booked in 2022 and the themes were confirmed based on suggestions from the regions LAs. If you would like to attend the workshops or have colleagues who would like to, please email me and I can send you the Microsoft Team workshop invites.
