Update:

On 16 March DfE published twenty new Safety Valve agreements, including five in the south east

Children’s mental health services 2021-2022

Further information:

Findings include: the data that could be collected on children in inpatient settings is limited; how the average waiting time to start treatment increased from 32 days in 2020-21 to 40 days in 2021-22; and that children in inpatient mental health settings wanted earlier intervention to prevent crisis admissions.

Pupil absence in schools in England (academic year 2021/2022)

Further information:

The data align with the picture in local areas that persistent absenteeism is higher than pre-pandemic and is higher among disadvantaged pupils than their peers.

Spurgeons Children’s Charity has created new animated videos about young people and eating disorders. Read the press release “Spurgeons tackles eating disorder myths”

Further information:

Spurgeons aim to tackle misconceptions around eating disorders and educate professionals on how to support young people with the conditions.
