Integrated Care Boards – updated contact lists now available

Update:

Across the south east, the NHS has created seven Integrated Care Boards. The Board Members are now appointed, and we have a comprehensive list of local authority representation at Board level.

Action Required:

Completing social work chronologies: Practice Tool (2022)

Update:

On 25 August Research in Practice published Completing social work chronologies: Practice Tool (2022) to aid social workers with compiling and analysing chronologies.

 

Action Required:

Features include an overview of the process, practical tips on completing chronologies, and tools to promote reflection. 

This briefing is part of the Pre-proceedings and family justice hub, developed with the DfE Covid Recovery funding, in partnership with Essex County Council and regional leads across England.

Update:

On 1 September DfE published the updated version of Keeping Children Safe in Education 

Action Required:

This guidance applies to all schools and colleges and is for headteachers, teachers, staff, governing bodies, proprietors and management committees

Family and its protective effect: Part 1 of the Independent Family Review

Action Required:

Findings include: there is substantial regional variation in families’ access to support services; 80% of adults who say they can rely on their family ‘a lot’ if they have a serious problem are satisfied with life overall, compared with 66% of those who can’t rely on their family a lot; and 66% of looked after children in England have come into care due to abuse or neglect.

Update:

On 6 September DfE published National Key stage 2 attainment statistics for 2021-22

Action Required:

The disadvantage gap has grown to its widest for 10 years and attainment was lower than in 2019, with only 43% of disadvantaged pupils reaching expected standards.

Update:

On 30 August 2022 the Multi-academy trust leadership development offer expert advisory group met for the first time.

Action Required:

The membership includes former Bracknell Forest DCS Nikki Edwards, now CEO, Bath and Wells Multi Academy Trust.

Update:

In celebration of Kinship Care Week (3-7 October 2022), SESLIP, supported by the Adoption and Special Guardianship Leadership Board, is launching a series of free Lunch and Learn sessions for practitioners and managers working with kinship carers and special guardians.

We will be hearing from:

  • Lucy Peake, Chief Executive of Kinship, and a kinship carer on the design of information and support services, featuring kinship carers’ work with local authorities and the development of Kinship Compass, a new digital hub for kinship carers to find advice, information and peer support (launching late 2022)
  • Alex Leslie from TPXImpact and Carole Atkins from Bucks Special Guardians who will explain their approach to coproduction and the new Guardians’ Guide they have co-designed with Special Guardians.
