Modern Slavery – call for case studies

Update:

Katy Block, Policy Officer at ADCS has written

Dear Colleagues,

The LGA are planning a series of regional workshops on modern slavery in the new year.  They are looking for LAs to input real life examples on the day, more info and dates below.  I would be grateful if you could share this request with colleagues in your region, anyone interested in participating or finding out more about these events should contact Lucy Ellender at the LGA directly.

Many thanks

Action Required:

Lucy at LGA is keen to hear from councils and showcase good practice as a part of the workshop. She is still working out the exact details of how the sessions will work but it might be good if speakers can talk about what they’ve done on modern slavery in their areas. She is keen for the workshops to be interactive and get attendees thinking about how they would work in their own councils. If you’d like to volunteer, please contact Lucy on 020 7664 3321.

The dates for the workshops are below.

  • London,  Wednesday 17 January
  • Newcastle, Thursday  25 January
  • Manchester, Wednesday  31 January
  • Bristol,  Tuesday 27 February
  • Nottingham,   Wednesday 7 March

DWP Secondment opportunities: Reducing Parental Conflict – Senior Transformation Lead and Regional Transformation Leads

Update:

Senior Transformation Lead and Regional Transformation Leads

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is looking for people with the right skills and professional experience to join on secondment to help drive local transformation, embedding activities to reduce parental conflict locally and improve outcomes for children.

Ground-breaking evidence shows that children who are exposed to frequent, intense and poorly resolved conflict can experience a decline in their mental health and suffer poorer long term outcomes – and that workless families are three times more likely to experience this relationship distress.

Action Required:

This is an opportunity to play a role at the heart of the Reducing Parental Conflict programme.

For details of how to apply please email rpc.programme@dwp.gsi.gov.uk. The Senior Transformation Lead job description is available on request from DWP, the Regional Transformation Lead Job Description is here.

Should you wish to discuss either of the roles please contact Kim Webb on 0114 2098664 or Kati McHugh on 0114 2934803. Applications for the Senior Transformation Lead are open until 16 December 2017. Applications for the Regional Transformation Leads are open from 11 December 2017 until 12 January 2018.
