DWP Secondment opportunities: Reducing Parental Conflict – Senior Transformation Lead and Regional Transformation Leads

Senior Transformation Lead and Regional Transformation Leads

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is looking for people with the right skills and professional experience to join on secondment to help drive local transformation, embedding activities to reduce parental conflict locally and improve outcomes for children.

Ground-breaking evidence shows that children who are exposed to frequent, intense and poorly resolved conflict can experience a decline in their mental health and suffer poorer long term outcomes – and that workless families are three times more likely to experience this relationship distress.

Action Required:

This is an opportunity to play a role at the heart of the Reducing Parental Conflict programme.

Modern Slavery – call for case studies

The LGA are planning a series of regional workshops on modern slavery in the new year.  They are looking for LAs to input real life examples on the day, more info and dates below.  I would be grateful if you could share this request with colleagues in your region, anyone interested in participating or finding out more about these events should contact Lucy Ellender at the LGA directly.

Lucy at LGA is keen to hear from councils and showcase good practice as a part of the workshop. She is still working out the exact details of how the sessions will work but it might be good if speakers can talk about what they’ve done on modern slavery in their areas. She is keen for the workshops to be interactive and get attendees thinking about how they would work in their own councils. If you’d like to volunteer, please contact Lucy on 020 7664 3321.

Leadership Development

Update:

We continue to offer our successful portfolio of Leadership Development Courses all of which have been positively evaluated by delegates.

We are offering LAs the opportunity to train their own trainers for all our courses. Our aim is to increase the capacity and capability across the region  to ensure future sustainability within LAs. Courses can also be delivered with adult services and/or for schools. Please contact Di Smith, details below, if this is of interest to you.

Action Required:

All courses are run in-house in the LA who provides the venue. Each course is accompanied by a range of training resources for the delegates including a comprehensive handbook.
